23/08/24 - BRAND NEW DARLINGHURST SINGLE “I SHOULDN’T BE DRINKING” DROPS
Known for turning things on its head, we’ve come to ‘expect the unexpected’ with Melbourne country outfit, Darlinghurst.
A number one smash, “Unapologetic”, kicked off the year followed by the gorgeous bluegrass hit, “Gypsy Girl”.
On Friday 23rd August, the duo of Cassie Leopold and Pagan Newman unleash the third release from their wildly anticipated forthcoming album.
“I Shouldn’t Be Drinking” is fun, anthemic and sure to fire up any party. The girls are known to let their hair down from time to time and Pagan laughs and simply says, “it’s about when you know you shouldn’t, but you do it anyway”.
“It was a note to self!”, quickly adds Cassie. “It’s a reminder that a casual drink over dinner should be just that!”.
Again recruiting musical mastermind, Damian Cafarella, to help co-write the track and take the lead on production – “I Shouldn’t Be Drinking” sees the girls hitting all the high points that Darlinghurst is known for while exploring new turf including experimenting with banjo!
We double dare you not to sing along to this one!

14/06/24 - LINC PHELPS GOES 'HUNDRED PERCENT' WITH HIS LATEST SINGLE
Queensland country rocker Linc Phelps, doesn’t do things in halves. Recently signing to Nybor Records, the singer-songwriter today unveils his new single ‘Hundred Percent’.
‘Hundred Percent’ is pure joy from the moment you press play. The sounds of old school country meet rock n’ roll swagger, as Linc invites us to go all in on life. “If ya gonna make a plan man, hundred percent / If ya gonna hit the road man, hundred percent.”
The song’s title arose between a conversation with Linc and producer, Gavin Carfoot. “Hundred Percent came about after my producer bought to my attention, how many times I say ‘Hundred Percent’ in my day-to-day conversations. I started thinking about what that means to me and basically, it’s about being “all in”. Whether its relationships, work, rest or play – just give it your all and be a Hundred Percent your authentic self.”
As the mastermind behind the sounds of new stars like James Johnston, Max Jackson and Melanie Dyer, Carfoot was without a doubt the man to bring Linc’s cheerful hit to life. Tracked with a live band at QUT in Brisbane, the recording expertly captures the energy of the performers in the room; a perfect sonic accompaniment to Linc’s message.
The new single follows from Linc’s recent triumph, ‘Sing A Little Louder’, which garnered additions to Apple Music’s ‘Country Risers’, ‘New Music Daily’, ‘Southern Craft’ and ‘Aussie Country’ editorial playlists. Dedicated to his son, who deals with autism, the single was the first to showcase Linc’s unique new sound.
As a regular fixture at the Gympie Music Muster, the powerhouse performer has long been wowing fans on stage. He’s recently brought his show to some of the countries most renowned stages at Groundwater Country Music Festival, Winton’s Way Out West Fest, Tamworth Country Music Festival and NQ’s Rock’n Country. This year the Gympie native returns once again to the Gympie Music Muster stage in August with his biggest show yet and will also be opening for label mates Darlinghurst at Bundaberg’s Oodies Café on 7th November.
Equal parts old school and contemporary country, with a little rock n roll, Linc Phelps has a sound that makes you move. ‘Hundred Percent’ is just that. Pure positivity in music and lyrics and irresistibly catchy.

31/05/24: DARLINGHURST FOLLOW #1 SMASH WITH LIBERATING NEW SINGLE, “GYPSY GIRL"
The award-winning Darlinghurst kicked off 2024 with an absolute bang - a number one smash with “Unapologetic”, a bold new sound, vibrant new look and new team.
Pagan and Cassie again turn the tables with “Gypsy Girl” - the yin to “Unapologetic’s” yang. The song switches lanes into a stripped back bluegrass arrangement complete with lush instrumentation and joyous harmonies. It speaks of freedom and allowing life to take you where you need to be.
“The girl who is not bound by the conventions of traditional society. Gypsy Girl serves as a reminder to all the power of individuality and the beauty of a life lived on one’s own terms”, says Cassie Leopold.
A beautiful blend of early The Chicks and 1970’s West Coast folk rock à la Fleetwood Mac, The Mama’s & The Papa’s and Joni Mitchell – “Gypsy Girl” was recorded at Ziggy Tone Studios in Melbourne under the guidance of Damian Cafarella (The Pleasures, Henry Wagons, Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes). While some may say that in itself is a left field choice, it was one that immediately struck the right balance in capturing not only the pure essence of the song but one that has reignited the girls’ fire for their music. Cafarella produced and mixed the track and played all guitars, mandolin, dobro and sang backing vocals. The gorgeous instrumentation is fleshed out by Luke Moller (Dolly Parton, Lana Del Rey) on fiddle and Michael Carpenter (Michael Carpenter & The Banks Brothers) on upright bass.
“Gypsy Girl” will make you fall in love with the music of Darlinghurst all over again.
Darlinghurst is Cassie Leopold and Pagan Newman.
“Gypsy Girl” is out today - Friday 31st May 2024 through Nybor Records.

17/05/24: COUNTRYTOWN EXCLUSIVE: NEW COUNTRY LABEL NYBOR RECORDS LAUNCHES IN AUSTRALIA
Darlinghurst and Linc Phelps are the first artists who have signed to the label.
17 May 2024 | 10:28 AM | Mary Varvaris
17 May 2024 | 10:28 AM | Mary Varvaris
Australia is home to a brand-new label for country music artists, Nybor Records, and the first acts signed to the label are Darlinghurst and Linc Phelps.
Nybor Records, led by Red Rebel Music’s Karen Waters, will welcome artists making country, Americana and other singer-songwriters. According to a press release, the label’s name represents “stability, trust, loyalty, love and family”.
The first release on Nybor Records is Darlinghurst’s new song, Gypsy Girl, which is set to land on Friday, 31 May, with Linc Phelps up next on Friday, 14 June, with new single Hundred Percent.
Earlier this year, Darlinghurst released their first song as a duo, Unapologetic, after past members Jason Resch and Matt Darvidis left the band in December.
Gypsy Girl has been described as a meeting between The Chicks and folk-rock heroes such as Fleetwood Mac, The Mamas & The Papas and Joni Mitchell, with production from Damian Cafarella (The Pleasures, Henry Wagons, Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes). Meanwhile, Hundred Percent is the second single from Phelps’ upcoming album, Faith And Sweat, a feel-good anthem produced by Gavin Carfoot (James Johnston, Loren Ryan).
“It is with much delight that we embark on our next musical adventure joining Nybor Records,” Darlinghurst’s Cassie Leopold commented in a press release. “The meaning behind the name and those attached to the label align with everything Pagan [Newman] and I represent as people as well as artists.
“The industry can be brutal, leaving you with more questions than answers at times, so trust is paramount when you put your career in the hands of others. Nybor Records is a perfect match, and we are confident that their hands will lift us up, not push us down.”
Phelps added, “I began this year in the hopes of growing my team, so I am beyond thrilled to have joined the Nybor Records family. Kaz has forged a reputation based on honesty, hard work and her passion for the artists she represents. Her authenticity, along with her years of industry knowledge and experience, makes this step feel really comfortable and so right.”
Since its establishment in 2005, Red Rebel Music has become home to a multitude of Australian artists, including INXS, The McClymonts, Tania Kernaghan, Melody Moko, James Blundell, Lee Kernaghan, Catherine Britt and many more.
